Versingetorix
was the leader of the Gallic tribes, when in 56Bc Julius Caesar invaded
Gaul, His homeland. Versingetorix defeated a large Roman army at the
battle of Gergovia. But Romans power was strong and later Versingetorix
was besieged in Alesia. he surrendered to the Romans and throw
his sword down at the feet of Caesar, he was taken back to Rome and
paraded in the streets before being executed by strangulation.

After the fall of the stronghold of Alesia in 52BC, Vercingetorix was
the last Gallic Chieftain to submit to Caesar.
