Edward the Black Prince. was born in
1330. the eldest son of King Edward III. he became Prince of Wales in
1343. He took part in the Hundred Years war campaigning with his
father. The gained a fierce reputation at the Battle of Crecy. and
it was the French soldiers who named him The Black Prince due to his Black
Armour. The name of Black Prince was only recorded in Britain during
the the 16th century. In 1355 The Black Prince led a campaign
in Aquitaine and during the battle of Poitiers defeated and captured the French
King. John II. and Edward the Black prince became the ruler of the
English principality of Aquitaine. he did not live to succeed his
father but his son did. becoming King Richard the II
